Happy Fairy Day!

Yup, it's that time of year again! A day to celebrate fairies! For more info on the holiday, see last year's post.

I was intending to write something fairy-related to celebrate the occasion, but I just didn't have the time/energy for it. I did draw a fairy, though, so that totally counts, right? Right. And I intend to watch Fairy Tale: A True Story later on, so I've got my celebrating covered.

I would like to go on a fairy hunt, but... I don't know where to go. I guess I just haven't gotten in tune with the city's magic yet, because I can't for the life of me figure out where the fairies hang out around here... at home it was just so obvious, you know? I guess I'll find them sooner or later.

Anyway, hope you all enjoy the holiday. Celebrate the magic! Befriend a fairy!

Various and Sundry

I've finally got another job interview. Woohoo! I really really really want it to work out. I really want to be employed and have something to do with my time. And, ya know, have a source of income and not need to worry about money (as much). I think that it will still be good for me even if it doesn't pan out, though. After having sent out... oh, say, fortyish? applications in the past 3ish weeks and getting absolutely no response whatsoever, I was starting to feel like it was pointless and nothing would ever come of it. But now something has come of it, so even if it doesn't result in a job I think it will renew my motivation to keep trying.

JH has officially decided not to move in for the summer, which is kind of sad, 'cause I miss her. Another of our friends, AM, is subletting her room for the summer, which is neat. But she is actually employed and works all the time and we don't see her that much, but oh well. JH did come up to visit this weekend, which resulted in all of us doing things like going for a big long exploratory walk, and having a picnic at the park and the suchlike, which was all really really good. Not only were those things fun in and of themselves, but they've snapped LH and I out of our rut of not doing anything, so now I feel motivated and have been getting a whole bunch of stuff done. Yay!

I'm excited about life in general just now, but I don't really have much to say, so I guess I'll try to get in the habit of updating more frequently on more specific topics, rather than just the occassional overview.

I don't love...

getting Facebook messages that aren't the Facebook message I want to get. The same goes for emails.
still being mostly unemployed.
the results of the election.

BUT, I do love...

how in Google Chrome when a page doesn't load properly it says "Aw, snap!"
employment! Not much or permanent, but I worked about 7 hours today at 2 one-time jobs, which is better than my usual unemployment.
elections!!! Agh, excitement. One of the places I worked today was in a returning office, taking phone calls from polling stations reporting their results. It was pretty neat to be there and be a part of everything... although a little frustrating not having a real time results from the rest of the province. Ah well. I'm so glad I'm on the elections committee at King's next year, I know it's not the same, but it's still pretty exciting.
my roommate's parents, and her boyfriend's parents. They're just such lovely people, so very very giving. Their generosity amazes me to no end.
sweet potato soup!
cookie on a stick! I haven't eaten it yet because it was frozen, but my mouth is watering in anticipation. I have heard amazing things about these cookies.
discovering new blogs (Geek Central Station). This makes me want to take up arigurumi crochet, because HOLY CRAP crocheted Lord of the Rings characters? Or Firefly? That would be SO COOL.
part time employment in a few weeks. I'm not overly thrilled about it, and am keeping on looking, but it's better than nothing, yes? Yes.

EDIT: Okay, okay, what I want to make, is crocheted Princess Bride characters. YES. I mean, a crocheted Buttercup and Wesley? Totally cool! And INIGO? And Fezzick! And then I'd have to do Vizzini. I guess I'd better have Humperdink and Rugen, too. Miracle Max and Vaelrie? I think so! Maybe the albino. And the old woman with the eye brows... Okay, maybe that's a little much. BUT YOU GET MY POINT. It would be totally cool. Totally. Cool.

Endlessly unemployed

So, I didn't post for a really long time. Whoops.

I still haven't found a job. I don't really want a job. But I need a job. I just wish money weren't an issue. I would much, much, much rather not work this summer. I'd like to volunteer somewhere, or several somewheres, and spend my spare time writing and reading and cooking and knitting and doing all of the things that I actually want to do with my life.

But there's that whole bit where I need to pay for tuition and stuff. Bit of a problem. So I keep looking. And not doing any of the other things, because I feel like I shouldn't be doing those things until I've got a job. But I don't want a job AND it's simply not possible to spend every minute of the day on it. So instead I end up doing things like beating up yetis and reading Pokey the Penguin and endlessly cycling between email/Facebook/google reader, fruitlessly hoping that something new will have popped up in the last two minutes.

I'll get myself together eventually, I guess.
